A Bit about Bridget

There is a girl I have become friends with while studying abroad. Before this trip, I didn’t know her, I only knew of her. It was a friend of a friend situation since her boyfriend is good friends with one of my best friends. Now, she is my roommate. Even though it’s only been a few days, she has already become a friend and someone that I believe I can put my trust in.
Her name is Bridget. She has brown eyes and brown hair that hits below her shoulders. It is straight now but she claims it used to be as curly as Shirley Temple’s. She doesn’t have a preference for wearing it up or down and is not someone who needs to blow dry and design it every time it gets wet. She’s not high maintenance, but still cares about her appearance and living space. This is something I appreciate in a roommate.
Bridget is tall and skinny, probably about five feet seven. She has some light freckles, but not a bunch and perfectly straight teeth. Her health and getting a good night sleep is important to her. She seems responsible but still knows how to have a good time.
She is someone who is quiet and shy at first, or so I always thought. I thought she would be someone that even when she feels comfortable she may be a bit quiet. However, she has been much more open than I expected. I think one reason why I may feel like she is somewhat quiet is because I never stop talking. She is someone who doesn’t need constant conversation and noise. I think this is probably why I assumed she is very shy and quiet when she is actually very friendly and conversational.
She is smart and actually likes math. Bridget is a finance major and is taking a lot of her regular core and business core this semester. She changed around her classes so it suits both academics and travel better. She takes her academics very seriously which is important and admirable. This is proven by the time she dedicates to work as well as the fact that she is a tutor back in America.
She is the oldest child of three. Therefore, she is the role model for a seventh-grade boy and a sixteen-year-old girl. She hasn’t mentioned it, but I’m sure they miss having their older sister away at college. She seems like someone very connected to her family. She does not have any pets but believes dogs are better than cats. This is something I can definitely agree with.
She lives in a small farming town outside of Boston. She doesn’t have a thick Boston accent, but she calls a water fountain a bubbler and pronounces margarita like mahgarita. She loves Boston sports, especially the Patriots, Bruins, and Red Sox. In high school, she was active on various sport teams such as softball, field hockey and swimming.
Bridget is open-minded and interested in trying new things. For example, at dinner we ordered octopus tentacles and while some people were too nervous to eat it, she gave it a try. She is also open and friendly when talking to the locals and other foreign students. I think she looks to find a friend in everyone, but also can see through people when they are being fake.
Quite honestly, I’ve only known her for about three days, so I do not know her extremely well. I am excited to get to know her better as our time abroad continues and have share more experiences and adventures. Since, we are living together these next four months, there is not a doubt in my mind that we will become good friends.
